Activity overview

Nia's drawing classes focus on teaching the proportional values of the face using the Reilly method. This approach is straightforward, accessible, and suitable for all skill levels and ages. Participants will use circles and lines to create a structured portrait, which can then be developed into a likeness of another person or a public figure. The Reilly method provides a clear and structured foundation for anyone looking to begin their artistic journey and improve their ability to sketch people.

Each participant will receive a pencil, eraser, and paper to begin their portrait. Nia will lead the class from the front, demonstrating each step required to create the Reilly face. Once completed, attendees will have time to use their proportioned portraits as a guide to draw a real person, such as a classmate or a celebrity. The goal is to capture the likeness of the chosen face whilst applying the principles of the Reilly method. All portraits can be taken home after the class has ended.
